Pastor 'Belle' Meyer

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 8, 1997 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Fairbury Cemetery in Fairbury, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Pastor “Belle” Meyer

Lillie Belle Meyer, the daughter of David and Leona (Baldwin) Sims, was born at New Franklin, Missouri, on June 29, 1924, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 5, 1997, at the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 6 days.

She grew up and attended school in Missouri, and attended St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri.

On March 11, 1961, she was united in marriage to Rev. John Meyer, at Columbia, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1993.

They co-pastored churces through out rural Nebraska, and following his death she moved to Aurora in 1993, where she has since resided.

“Belle” was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was also active in the Aurora Senior Citizens, and AARP.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and 4 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, John F. Meyer, II, of Gering; six daughters, Donna Sybert of Seattle, Washington, Betty Fitzpatrick of Huntington Beach, California, Wanda Boggs of Kansas City, Missouri, Rosetta Hoover of Branson, Missouri, Joy Allgood of Peru, and Marsha Johnson of Hampton; 3 brothers, William Sims of Golden Valley, Arizona, David Sims of Western, and Richard Sims of New Franklin, Missouri; 3 sisters, Dorothy Newell of Mexico, Missouri, Pauline Gill of Sedalia, Missouri, and Anna Mae Jackson of Waco, Texas; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
