Graveside Services were held 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 3, 1989 at the Rosehill Cemetery in Rose, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Walter W. Meyer

Walter William Meyer, the fifth child of eight born to John C. and Emma Louise Caroline Ahrndt Meyer on October 11, 1913, at Crofton, Nebraska. He passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 30, 1989, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 19 days.

The family lived in Nebraska until 1916, when they moved to a farm south of Watauga, South Dakota. He lived in that area until 1936, when the family moved back to Nebraska. They worked for area ranchers until they bought the ranch in Rock County, where he and his mother lived until he joined the armed services in 1942. He was in the Air Force during World War II, serving in the States.

On June 25, 1944 he married Lenora Forbes Meyer, at Denver, Colorado. Children, Richard, Janeth and Daveta were born to this marriage.

Walter was a charter member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Bassett. He helped build the church and parsonage and was a faithful member there until 1979, when he moved to Aurora, because of failing health, and he transferred his membership to Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora.

Walter’s interests in life were the concern of his family, his pride in his Hereford cattle and stewardship of his land.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Adolph and Ernest.

He leaves his wife Lenora, of Aurora; his children, Richard and wife Connie of Aurora; Janeth and husband Gary Bell of Brady; Daveta and husband Richard Brader of Glenvil; brothers, Herman of Sandy, Oregon and Larry of Grass Valley, California; sisters, Meta Mandigo of Bismark, North Dakota, Johanna Hilsendager of Morristown, South Dakota, and Julia Ammon of Newport, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren, Keely and Kasey Rogers; Judy Henderson and Shary Bell; Bryan and Kevin Meyer; Brandon, Justin, and Kerry Dee Brader; and one great-grandchild, Nathan Henderson.
