Edna Miller

Edna Miller, age 96, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at the Hearthstone in York.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 19th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Royce Rexilius will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to The Hearthstone in York. OBITUARY: EDNA MILLER

Edna Genevieve Miller, the daughter of Gus and Effie (Collinson) George, was born on a farm near Stockham, Nebraska on February 5, 1911 and died in York, Nebraska on June 15, 2007, at the age of 96.

She lived in the Stockham and Hampton area through her high school years and graduated from Hampton High School in 1928.

On April 12, 1931, she was united in marriage to Maurice Miller. They had two daughters, Shirley and Maurine, in addition to raising their granddaughter, Valerie Omel. Edna resided in the Aurora vicinity with her granddaughter, until the summer of 1965, when they moved to Lincoln. She was employed by Prison Industries until her retirement in 1968. Edna moved to The Hearthstone in York, in July 1993.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold and Emery and a sister, Sadie Smirch.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Shirley Meier of Norfolk and Maurine Mumma of Lincoln; her granddaughter, Valerie (Ron) Peery of Denton; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
