Grant Miller

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 15, 1991 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Grant Miller

Grant H. Miller, the son of John A. and Ellen “Nellie” (Boag) Miller, was born at Stockham, Nebraska, on July 31, 1918, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 11, 1991, at the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 10 days.

His childhood was spent in the Stockham area, where he attended Verona country school west of Stockham, and later attended Aurora High School. He farmed with his father in the early part of his life, and in 1939, he moved to California and worked on construction. He served his country during World War II, from October 24, 1941, to August 3, 1943. After his discharge, he worked in California on a home delivery milk route. In 1953, he returned to Aurora, and worked a Newman’s Garage.

On February 13, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy McConaughey Hutcheson, at Wilbur, Nebraska. After his marriage he went to barber school in 1956, and started to barber in 1957. After a short time he became a partner with Herb Ross, later the shop was sold and Grant retired in 1979.

Grant was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and had served on the Church Board. He had also served on the Aurora City Council for one and a half terms, served on the Aurora Chamber of Commerce Board, and the Aurora Cemetery Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Maurice, and one sister Catherine.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy of Aurora; a step-son Herb Hutcheson of Columbus; a daughter Judy Tyler of Olympia, Washington; 3 brothers, Andrew of Aurora, Paul of Paramount, California, and Robert of Giltner; 2 sisters, Dorothy Hohnstein of Aurora, and Betty Itts of Lakewood, California; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jamison, and Joy Tyler, and 2 step-grandchildren, Greg and Suzanne Hutcheson.
