LeRoy MillerFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: LeRoy “Unk” Miller LeRoy “Unk” Miller, the son of John P. and Margaret K. Miller, was born at Stockham, Nebraska, on January 31, 1914, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on December 28, 1997, at the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 27 days. He attended country school district #85, and graduated from Aurora High School. Following graduation he helped on the family farm, and helped organize the Stockham Baseball Team. He served his country during World War II, in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945. After his discharge he returned to the family farm, and in 1953, he and his mother moved into Aurora, and he continued farming. In August of 1987, he entered the Memorial Community Care. “Unk”, as he was known by everyone, was a member of the Aurora V.F.W. Post #4993, the Cooties, and the Grand Island Eagles Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and for brothers, Alfred, Ed, Emil and Kenneth. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Pauline McConaughey and Tena Schaffert, both of Aurora, and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives. |
