Vernon 'Tunny' Miller
Vernon 'Tunny' Miller, age 79, formerly of Aurora, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Brown County Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 28th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: VERNON 'TUNNY' MILLER Vernon Henry 'Tunny' Miller, the son of William and LoVena (Salmon) Miller, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on June 29, 1925 and died in Georgetown, Ohio on April 24, 2005, at the age of 79. He grew up in Hamilton County and attended school through the 8th grade. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On August 18, 1957, he was united in marriage to Rosella Ann Jantzen at Aurora. They farmed near Stockham. He drove a grain truck for the Murphy Elevator before going to work for the Hamilton County Department of Roads, where he worked until he retired. They moved to Aurora, when they retired from farming. Rosie passed away on December 8, 2004. Tunny loved to go fishing and camping. In his early days, he loved rodeoing and clowning around with the bulls. He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, the Eagles and Aurora Vets Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; two brothers, Rueben James and Benjamin Miller and a sister, Edith Alberts. Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Sherry Ann Thacker of Mt. Oarb, Ohio and Debora Jo Miller of York; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Delpha Miller, Hannah Miller and Esther Blattner and brother-in-law Ole Alberts all of Aurora. |
