Virginia Moderow

Virginia Moderow, age 74, of Central City formerly of Marquette, died Sunday night, April 16, 2000 at IHS Hospital in Central City.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday at the Higby Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Herbert Schutte will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Tuesday evening at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

OBITUARY: VIRGINIA MODEROW

Virginia Moderow was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 29, 1925, and died in Central City, Nebraska, on April 16, 2000, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 17 days.

She was adopted at age 8 by Theodore and Emma (Thiemann) Vinkenberg and moved to Carleton, where she graduated from Carleton High School.

Virginia was united in marriage to Melbourne “Ben” Moderow on February 11, 1945 at Freidensau Lutheran Church. They operated a grocery store in Marquette for 20 years. She ran a beauty shop for 13 years in Marquette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Laurie, son John and brother, John.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Melbourne of Central City; 2 sons, Bob and his wife Eve of Hastings and Ron and his wife Sue of Omaha; 2 daughters, Pat King and her husband Ron of Grand Island and Sue Polzkill of York; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Kelso of Friend.
