Maria Montelongo

Maria Montelongo, age 90, of Aurora died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 4th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Dennis Hunt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. OBITUARY: MARIA MONTELONGO

Maria Margarita Gonzalez Montelongo, the daughter of Jorge and Josefa (Martinez) Gonzalez, was born in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico on October 17, 1919 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on April 29, 2010, at the age of 90.

She grew up and attended school in Antonio Amaro Dgo, Mexico.

On December 26, 1938, she married Santos Montelongo at Guadalupe, Dgo, Mexico and 10 living children were born to this marriage.

They came to the United States in 1945. They resided in Texas until 1956. The family migrated to several states before settling in Aurora, Nebraska on April 29, 1957. Santos passed away on May 15, 1999.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, three infant children, and a granddaughter, Janna Moore-Morin.

Those left to cherish her memory are her 5 sons, Jerry of Grand Island, Greg of Aurora; Santos, Jr., Mike and Frank all of El Paso, Texas; 2 daughters, Mary Tournor of Hastings and Melinda Moore of Aurora; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Jesus Gonzalez, Raul Gonzalez and Jorge Gonzalez all of Dgo, Mexico and a sister, Evelia Gonzalez Rodarte of Zacatecas, Mexico.
