Bertha Nachtigal
Bertha Nachtigal, age 91, of Aurora died Saturday night, October 11, 2003, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 15th at the Aurora Evangelical Free Church. Rev. Vance Christie will officiate. Interment will be in the Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Henderson. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the Aurora Evangelical Free Church in care of Feed the Children Program of Oklahoma City. OBITUARY: BERTHA NACHTIGAL Bertha Alice Nachtigal, the daughter of William and Katharine (Martens) Ollenberger, was born in Fairview, Oklahoma on July 13, 1912 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on October 11, 2003, at the age of 91. She grew up in Balko, Oklahoma and attended Union School in Gray, Oklahoma, through the 10th grade, where she was a member of the girl's basketball team that went to the state tournament. Bertha was united in marriage to Jacob Clarence Nachtigal on February 15, 1931 at Balko, Oklahoma. They lived on a farm south of Aurora where they raised their five children. Jacob passed away on February 9, 1983. Bertha was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, the Mennonite Brethren Mission Circle and Ladies Chorus. She was also a member of the Neighborhood B-Day Club. Bertha supported her children and grandchildren through various school and church activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, John & Ken and sister, Pauline and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Those left to cherish her memory are her five children, Willis Nachtigal and his wife Joan of Aurora, Inez Heinrichs and her husband Delbert of Henderson, Junior Nachtigal and his wife Janis of Aurora, Doris Classen and her husband Jerry of Minden and Kathy Clayton and her husband Dave of Lushton, 18 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Bill Ollenberger of Lucerne, California and sister, Ethel Ollenberger Pert of Sacramento, California; sisters-in-law, Anna Nachtigall, Anna Marie Nachtigall and Elma Crosley and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Doris and Vern Buller, Dan and Bernice Nachtigal and Ed and Bonnie Nachtigall. |
