Paul Nelsen

Paul Nelsen, age 65, of Aurora, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 19th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Bill Jones will present the eulogy. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. OBITUARY: PAUL NELSEN

Paul Edmond Nelsen, the son of Paul and Rose (Wonn) Nelsen, was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 23, 1937 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 15, 2003, at the age of 65.

He grew up in Omaha and graduated from Tech High in Omaha. Paul served in the United States Marines from 1956-58. Early on in his career he worked for a veterinarian, because he loved animals.

Paul was united in marriage to Sharon L. Sloan on May 13, 1966 at McCook, Nebraska. Paul worked for A T & T for 34 years. Over his career he worked in Omaha, Millard, North Platte and Denver Colorado. After retiring in 1994, they moved to Aurora.

Paul enjoyed gardening, woodworking and bird watching. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Paul also enjoyed his dog and red hot chili peppers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dani Nelsen and grandson, Jeremy Nelsen.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Sharon of Aurora; four children, Bill (Deborah) Nelsen of Pisgah, Iowa, Gary (Norma) Nelsen of Lincoln, Mike (Kim) Nelsen of Ames, Iowa and Sherrill (Rod) Yost of North Platte; 13 grandchildren, Janean, Ryan & Lynne, Bethany & Sara, Hannah & Haley, Matthew and his wife Heather, Andrew & Brittney, Joshua, Stacey & Aaron; 4 great-grandchildren Cecilia, Trenton, Tayler & Hayley. He is also survived by his two brothers, Robert Nelsen and Howard (Marge) Nelsen and four sisters, Betty King, Rosemary (Hank) Vetter and Bonnie Frazier and Barbara (Mel) Dodenhof all of Omaha.
