Vera Nelson

Vera Nelson, age 83, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 17th at the Aurora Cemetery. Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: VERA NELSON

Janice Vera Nelson, the daughter of Floyd and Cressie (Poynter) Flippin, was born in Kingdon Springs, Arkansas on October 11, 1920 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 12, 2003, at the age of 83.

She grew up in Kingdon Springs and attended school through the 10th grade.

Vera married Lyle Nelson on November 9, 1946 in Yellville, Arkansas. They established their home in Aurora. In 1948 they moved to Chappell, Nebraska, where they resided for nine years before moving to Grant, Nebraska. They lived there two years before returning to Aurora. Vera worked as a cook at the Hamilton Manor. Lyle passed away on March 12, 1973.

Vera was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven Nelson of Aurora and daughter, Pamela Anderson of Walton Beach, Florida.
