Kendall NielsenFuneral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 11, 1991 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. Interment was held in the Fredericksburg Cemetery near Minden, Nebraska. OBITUARY: Kendall Nielsen Kendall Suzanne Nielsen, the daughter of V. Stuart and Sandra Sue (Johnson) Nielsen, was born at Cheyenne, Wyoming on January 15, 1965, and passed away September 29, 1991 at London, England, at the age of 26 years, 8 months, and 14 days. Kendall had lived in many places in her life, as her father’s profession required various moves. She had attended school in the Montisorri School in Wassenaar, the Netherlands; Terra Linda, California; Aurora, Nebraska; Fairbanks, Alaska; San Rafael, California; and she graduated from Cypress Creek High School in Houston, Texas. She attended both Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and the American College in London. Miss Nielsen graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in “Fashion design and merchandising” with honors from the American College in London in May of 1991. Kendall’s long list of achievements include: Fashion design prize finalist for Slazenger Sportswear Worldwide 1992 collection; Fashion design prize finalist for Schmirnoff UK Design competition, 1991; Final collection for men/women lingerie and loungewear for autumn/winter 1992-shown at “The Guildhall” London May 1991; Fashion design prize finalist, Challender U.K. Men’s Tailoring Spring/Summer 1991; Finalist qualifier for Career Day Fashion Show Competition April 1990, Dallas, Texas. Some of Kendall’s activities have included: Student representative on 1991 Student Collection Fashion Show committee in aid of Cottage Home Charity; Fashion Council representative for 1990-91 academic year; Organizer and promotions director of Neo Spirit Design Portfolio, ‘90-91; Chief coordinator of September 1990 Student Fashion Show raising 2000 (pounds English currency) in aid of Cottage Homes Charity; Member of Big Brother/Sister development committee ’90, ’91; President of the “Fine Arts Club” (Cypress Creek High School); and played trombone in high school in both Alaska and California. Miss Nielsen worked at a number of positions during school education including Layne Bryant Fashions and Rix Funeral Directors in Lubbock, Texas and Ibis London Limited (Women’s wear division) in the United Kingdom. Within a group of four she had originated a new United Kingdom fashion firm and had signed a contract as “Fashion designer and personal assistant” tom M. Juraslava of “Juraslava Fashions” in London, England. Her interest included ecological concerns, philately, tennis, fishing, and modern and classical music. Kendall was preceded in death by her 2 grandfathers, William E. Johnson and Orville V. Nielsen. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her parents, V. Stuart and Sandra Sue Nielsen of London, England, 2 brothers Stuart Scott Nielsen of Houston, Texas, and Stephen Kent Nielsen of Shaker Heights, Ohio, her grandmothers, Opal Lee Johnson of Battlement Mesa, Colorado and Delma Margrethe Nielsen of Aurora, Nebraska, and other relatives and many close friends. |
