Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 10, 1998 at the Aurora First Christian Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Sylvia Nielsen

Sylvia A. Nielsen, the daughter of Anton and Mary (Boilesen) Rasmussen, was born at Elba, Nebraska, on December 30, 1905, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 7, 1998, at the age of 92 years, 10 months, and 7 days.

She grew up in the vicinity of Elba, and received her education in Howard County, and St. Paul, where they moved. She worked for doctors in St. Paul, and later the family moved to Dannebrog.

On April 4, 1925, she was united in marriage to Alvin G. Nielsen at Denver, Colorado. They farmed in the Dannebrog area until 1952, when they moved to Hamilton County. Their last farming residence was where the Aurora Airport is now located. Upon retirement, they moved into Aurora. Alvin preceded her in death on September 15, 1982. She entered Memorial Community Care in Aurora, on April 8, 1997.

Sylvia was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church and belonged to the Women’s Circle and Fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Marvin Nielsen, a grandson Mark Nielsen; 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son James of Omaha; two daughters, Lila Doll of Gering, and Betty Olson of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother Donald Rasmussen of Cairo; 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
