V. Stuart Nielsen

V. Stuart Nielsen, 62, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away, April 10, 2000 at Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora, Nebraska. The Rev. Monty Nelson will officiate. Graveside services will be held at Fredericksburg Lutheran Cemetery in Minden, Nebraska following the memorial service in Aurora.

OBITUARY: V. STUART NIELSEN

Vernon Stuart Nielsen, son of Orville V. & Delma M. (Madsen) Nielsen, was born October 1, 1937 in Clay Center, Kansas. He graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1955. He attended Iowa State University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and graduated from Denver University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. He also received a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (AMSE). He was employed by Public Service Co. of Colorado and Boeing, before beginning his career with Bechtel Corp. in 1965. He worked as a manager of many projects including Iran-Turkey, Nigeria, Iraq, Mexico, and South America. He managed the Trans-Alaska pipeline project from 1975-76. He lived all over the world including The Hague Netherlands, Fairbanks, Alaska, London, England, Marin County California, Houston, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue of Las Vegas; two sons, Stuart Scott Nielsen and his wife Clara of Houston, Texas and Stephen Kent Nielsen and his wife Docia of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Nicole and Ashley of Houston and Alexander and Erik of Las Vegas; one sister, Zandra Dee Nelson of Aurora, Nebraska.

Stuart was preceded in death by his parents and only daughter, Kendall Suzanne.
