George NolanOBITUARY: George Arthur Nolan George Arthur Nolan was born May 31, 1904, at McCool Junction, Nebraska, and departed this life on February 3, 1987, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Moses H. Nolan and N. Coral Jacks. On October 8, 1905, he was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at McCool Junction. He was educated in the Frontier County public school district No. 96 in the Maywood community. George Arthur Nolan and Hulda Amanda Nilson were united in marriage on January 21, 1937, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Lutheran pastor Henry George Hartner, officiating. Two sons were born to this union, Richard Arthur Nolan and William George Nolan. In his youth, George worked with his father on the family farm near Maywood. He left the farm to work on the Union Pacific Railroad mail service. At the invitation of his uncle, Arthur Tagg, he joined the Tagg Brothers Livestock Commission firm. Thereafter, he went to worth with Swift and Company. At the time of his retirement from Swifts on June 1, 1969, he was head of the refrigeration service unit of his shift. After retirement, he worked part time for the Metropolitan Utilities District and Vickers in their security departments until he became ill in 1978. He had been a resident for the past three months in the Lindenwood Nursing Home where he died. He was a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He was a member of Mispah Lodge Number 302 AF & AM, and a 32º Scottish Rite Mason in The Valley of Omaha. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Hulda, sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Anna Nolan of St. Johns, Newfoundland; and William and Marie Nolan of Decatur, Georgia; two sisters: Mildred Dybdahl of McCook, Nebraska and Thelma Stanek of Denver, Colorado. |
