Lydia Nunn
Lydia Nunn, age 84, of Aurora died Friday evening, April 25, 2008, at Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 1st at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Rev. Sam Fox will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Family will receive friends from 5 – 7. OBITUARY: LYDIA NUNN Lydia Ann Nunn, the daughter of Harry Felix and Eleanor (Pierce) Stark, was born at Grand Junction, Colorado on October 27, 1923 and died at Aurora, Nebraska on April 25, 2008, at the age of 84. She grew up and went to school in Appleton, Colorado. Lydia moved to Long Beach, California and worked at the Douglas Aircraft as a “Rosie the Riveter”, installing automatic pilot systems in B-17’s for WWII. She later attended nursing school in Omaha, where Lydia received her LPN license. On July 27, 1944, she was united in marriage to Walter William Nunn at Grand Junction, Colorado. They lived in Cheyenne and Green River, Wyoming while Walter worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. They moved to Nebraska to farm near Marquette and later on moved west of Fullerton before moving into Aurora when they retired. Lydia worked as a LPN during these years. Walter passed away on November 2, 2005. Lydia was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church, Eastern Star Aurora Chapter #93 and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her two children, Dick (Virginia) Nunn of Aurora and Carolyn Ann Kitterer of Tunis, Tunisia; 3 grandchildren, Steve Nunn, Di Kitterer and Li (Frank) Kitterer-Lynott; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Owen of Northridge, California and a brother, Everett (Rose) Stark of Corona, California. |
