Caroline Nydegger

Caroline Nydegger, age 92, of Aurora, died Friday, February 18, 2005, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 22nd at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: CAROLINE NYDEGGER

Caroline Jemison Nydegger, the daughter of Charles and Martha (Sharp) Jemison, was born at Giltner, Nebraska on November 8, 1912 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on February 18, 2005, at the age of 92.

She grew up near Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School. Caroline attended the University of Nebraska for two years. She graduated from Morningside College in Iowa in 1957 and received her Masters from Columbia University in 1962.

Caroline was united in marriage to LeRoy Banks Nydegger on January 27, 1938 at her parent's home near Aurora. After their marriage they lived in Ft. Dodge and Sheldon, Iowa and then moved to Sioux City, Iowa where LeRoy was a college professor at Morningside College. Caroline worked in a Photo Studio during this time. In 1957, they moved to Manlius, New York where LeRoy was attending graduate school at Syracuse University. LeRoy became a professor for the State University of New York at New Paltz and Caroline taught special education. They lived in New York after their retirement in 1976 and in 1996 moved to Aurora.

Caroline had a deep interest in gardening at which she surpassed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Jean Smith; three sisters, Jean Jemison, Agnes Schrock and Inez Wright and two brothers, LeRoy and Earl Jemison.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel (Janet) Nydegger of Auburn, Washington; 4 grandchildren, Carolee (Darren) Perry of Tulahoma, Tennessee, Andrew (Michelle) Smith of Rengold, Georgia, Holly (Chad) Fleckner of Auburn, Washington and David (Andee) Nydegger of Tacoma, Washington and 3 great-grandchildren.
