Ron Obermier

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at the Aurora Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Ron Obermier

Ronald Norman Obermier, the son of Norman and Irna (Fehlhafer) Obermier, was born at York, Nebraska, on February 6, 1941, and died at his home in Aurora, Nebraska, on November 23, 1997, at the age of 56 years, 9 months, and 17 days.

He grew up near Waco, attended St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School, and graduated from Waco High School in 1958. He farmed with his parents before attending Barber School in Lincoln.

On August 16, 1959, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Salmon at Aurora. He barbered in Lincoln, and in 1965 they moved to Aurora, where he began barbering at the Jess Jackson barber shop. He later purchased the shop and continued barbering for 35 years.

He obtained his insurance license and sold Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance, and was instrumental in establishing the Lutheran Brotherhood Branch in Hamilton County.

Ron was a member of the Aurora Messiah Lutheran Church, was active in the church activities, served on the church council, and had worked with the youth group. He was a Ham Radio Operator, and enjoyed chatting with people all over the world.

He grandparents had preceded him in death.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Kathy of Aurora; one son Timothy and his wife Roxie, of Aurora; 2 daughters, Amy Nissen and her husband Derek of Hampton, and Ann Serna and her husband Luis of Seward; one brother Duane and his wife Bonnie of Grand Island; one sister Lorraine Kohtz and her husband Donald of Grand Island; his parents Norman and Irna Obermier of Waco; and 5 grandchildren, Stephanie, Jessica and William Obermier, Kristen Serna, and Zachary Nissen. Also a special friend of the family Connie Nicklasson of Aurora.
