Donald H. OlsonFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 5, 1990 at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Phillips Cemetery. OBITUARY: Donald H. Olson Donald Harry Olson, the son of Harry and Mary (Devore) Olson, was born at Phillips, Nebraska, on November 11, 1925, and passed away at Omaha, Nebraska, on October 2, 1990, at the age of 64 years, 10 months, and 21 days. He grew up in the Phillips area, and graduated from Phillips High School in 1943. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from February 15, 1944 to May 29, 1946. On November 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mary Thompson at Grand Island. After his marriage he farmed, and later worked for International Harvester in Grand Island. He joined his father in the implement business at Phillips, and later worked at Kerutz-Olson Implement at Phillips. Don was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Keystone Masonic Lodge #62 A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #300 of Doniphan, an active worker with the Boy Scouts, and was a 4-H leader for several years. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-mother and a brother LaVern. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Mary of Phillips; 3 sons, John of Doniphan, Ben of Grand Island and Tom of Aurora; 2 daughters, Pam Clayton of St. Joseph, Missouri and Carol Vincik of Phillips; his brother Ralph Olson of Phillips, and a step-brother Robert Cornelius of Ogallala; 2 step-sisters, Betty Mabon of Phillips and Erma Bergholz of Grand Island; father, Harry Olson of Aurora and 12 grandchildren. |
