Edith Olson, age 93, of Aurora died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 4th at Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Monty Nelson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7. OBITUARY: EDITH OLSON
Edith BIanche (Ryan) Oswald Olson, the daughter of Sanford and May (Noel) Ryan, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on February 3, 1912 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on January 1, 2006, at the age of 93.
She grew up in Hamilton County and graduated from Aurora High School. Edith taught country school in Hamilton County for three years.
Edith was united in marriage to Gilbert R. Oswald on May 24, 1933, at Aurora. They lived on a farm southwest of Aurora for many years. One daughter was born to this union, Janet. They spent winters in California, when in California Edith worked at Orange County Bank. Gilbert passed away on January 4, 1971.
On January 5, 1979, Edith married Orville 'Olie' Olson at Aurora. After their marriage they lived in Aurora, and spent the winters in Arizona. Olie passed away on September 29, 1994.
Edith loved traveling, spending time with her family, fishing, cooking and square dancing. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brother, Jack; three sisters, Viola, Beulah and Doris and a special friend, Lou Selesky.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet (Dick) Grosshans of Aurora; two step-daughters, Cherie (Tony) Del Monte of Maple Shade, New Jersey and Cathie (Tom) Stordahl of Burnsville, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Nick (Gaylene) Grosshans, Ned (Rhonda) Grosshans all of Aurora and Julie (Bill) Krause of Auburn; 7 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Don Ryan of Orange, California, Vern Ryan of Alamo, California and Leonard Ryan of Lake Forest, California and many nieces, nephews and friends.
