James OlsonMemorial Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 11, 1995 at Higby Mortuary. Inurnment was held at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: James Olson James Michael Olson, the son of Raymond and Winonna (Phillips) Olson, was born at Central City, Nebraska on August 17, 1949, and died at Aurora, Nebraska on October 6, 1995, at the age of 46 years, 1 month, and 19 days. Jim lived several places while growing up, including Fairmont and Cedar Rapids, Nebraska; Dardanelle, Arkansas, and Crete, Nebraska, where he graduated from high school. On June 24, 1966, he was united in marriage to Barbara Henke at Friend, Nebraska. After their marriage they lived in Friend, Hallam, Phillips, Giltner, and the last 24 years in Aurora. He attended 2 years of college at Central Community College in Hastings. He then worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island, C.P.S in Aurora, Bethesda Community Care in Aurora, York Manufacturing in York, and was employed by the Nebraska Department of Roads in Aurora at the time of his death. Jim was a very active participant in his sons’ sports, music, drama, and school activities. He helped start the Head Start Program in Grand Island and held the state office of treasurer for 2 years. He enjoyed family and friends and counseling youth. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Barbara of Aurora; 3 sons, Todd and his wife Kelly of Hastings, Shane and his wife Robin of Aurora, Corey and his fiance Angela Abel of Columbus, his parents, Raymond Olson of Pryor, Oklahoma and Winonna Olson of New Blaine, Arkansas; 6 brothers, Larry of Benk, Germany, Jackie of Ranger, Arkansas, Jeff of Irving, Texas, Calvin of Cadda Mills, Texas, Greg of Danville, Arkansas, and Walter of Edmond, Oklahoma, 2 sisters Brenda Miller of Dardanelle, Arkansas and Theresa Jackson of Centerville, Arkansas, 2 grandsons, Isaac and Christian Olson, and other relatives and close friends. |
