Orville Olson

Funeral Services were held 2:30 P.M., Saturday, October 1, 1994 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Orville “Olie” Olson

Orville N. Olson, the son of Charles and Hedwig (Ebert) Olson, was born at Dorchester, Nebraska, on May 6, 1912, and passed away at Lincoln, Nebraska, on September 29, 1994, at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 23 days.

He grew up in Sutton, and attended Sutton Schools, graduated from Sutton High School with the class of 1929, and then attended Milford Trade School.

On August 11, 1937, he was united in marriage to Irma Hember, at Lincoln. She preceded him in death on December 17, 1977. After their marriage they lived in Clay County for 3 years, and in 1940, they moved to Tacoma, Washington where he worked as a welder in Bremerton, Washington in the Navy Ship yards during World War 2. In 1945, they moved to Swiss Home, Oregon, and he worked in a saw mill. In 1950, they moved to Aurora, where he was employed as a shop foreman for Grosshans Sales and Service, until it was sold, and then worked for Olson International.

On January 5, 1979, he married Edith (Ryan) Oswald at Aurora. After their marriage they lived in Aurora, and spent the winters in Arizona.

“Olie” had been a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, was Past Master of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #68, A.F. & A.M., was Past Worthy Matron of the Aurora Order of Eastern Star, and was a past Rainbow Dad. He loved the outdoors, camping, and had an inventive mind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irma, and one sister Orice Anderson Ball.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Edith of Aurora; 2 daughters, Cherie Del Monte of Maple Shade, New Jersey, and Cathie Stordahl of Burnsville, Minnesota, a step-daughter Janet Grosshans of Aurora; one sister Leone Ransdell of Sweet Home, Oregon; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
