Rosalie Olson

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 25, 1984 at the Phillips Untied Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Phillips Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Rosalie W. Olson

Rosalie W. Olson, the daughter of August Jr. and Bertha (Kuehner) Bartz, was born November 18, 1896, near Phillips, Nebraska, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 22, 1984, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 4 days.

She grew up near Phillips and attended country schools, and graduated from Aurora High School. She attended Kearney State College and later taught in country schools.

On November 28, 1917, she was united in marriage to George Cornelilus at Kearney, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1938. After marriage they farmed southwest of Phillips. They were blessed with three children, Robert Arthur, Betty Marie and Erma Rosalie. They raised Harold Stuhr, a nephews of George’s. After George’s death she was a telephone operator in Phillips for several years.

On January 22, 1947, she married Harry Olson at Grand Island, and they made their home on a farm near Phillips. They ran a lumber yard and hardware store in Phillips from 1952 to 1955. They started a farm implement business at their farm which they ran until 1965. They farmed a few years before retiring. One week ago they moved into Aurora.

Harry and Rosalie were honored by serving as king and queen of the Phillips Centennial celebration this spring.

Rosalie had been very active in the community with her activities including Phillips Senior Citizens, a Charter member of the K K Klub extension, a past matron of the Eastern Star Chapter #204, the Flora Belle Garden Club in Aurora, the United Methodist Women and various card clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband, George Cornelius, 4 brothers, Arthur, Ernest, Karl and Edgar Bartz; one sister, Marie Cook and one grandson, Douglas Mabon.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Harry of Aurora; son, Robert Cornelius of Ogallala, 2 step-sons, Donald and Ralph Olson, both of Phillips; 2 daughters, Betty Mabon of Phillips and Erma Bergholz of Grand Island; one sister Minnie Rathje of Phillips; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and many other relatives and a host of close friends.
