Rosa Onken

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 8, 1990 at the Aurora Assembly of God Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Rosa Onken

Rosa Adella Marie Onken, the daughter of Andrew and Marie Anna (Mueller) Gembler, was born at Nelson, Nebraska, on November 10, 1939, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on December 5, 1990, at the age of 51 years and 25 days.

She grew up at Nelson, and graduated from Nelson High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Nebraska, with a minor in Business Education. She also took graduate courses from Kearney State College.

On July 15, 1972, she was united in marriage to Duane Onken at the Salem Lutheran Church near Nelson.

She taught school in Aurora for 3 years, Lincoln for one year, and then returned to Aurora where she taught 3rd grade elementary. She had been in the teaching profession for 23 years.

She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society; the Aurora Education Association; the Nebraska Education Association, and the National Education Association.

Rosa attended the Assembly of God Church in Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother in May of 1976, and her father in July of 1990, and one sister in infancy.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Duane of Aurora; one sister Irene Gembler of Lincoln; Duane’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Clinton Onken of Eustis, Duane’s sister and her husband Gene and Marlene Rother of Eustis, and other relatives living in Germany.
