Lloyd 'Butch' Opp
Lloyd “Butch” Opp, age 66, of Aurora, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 20th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Mark Dunham will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 P.M. OBITUARY: LLOYD “BUTCH” OPP Lloyd ”Butch” Franklin Opp, the son of Karl E. and Colene (Anderson) Opp, was born at the family home east of Wood River, Nebraska on April 25, 1943 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 17, 2009, at the age of 66. Butch grew up in Wood River and graduated from Wood River High School in 1961. He began farming as soon as he finished school. Butch was married to Janice Parmley and they had two daughters: Lori and Stacie. He worked for Jerry’s Sheet Metal and Crouse Roofing in Grand Island. Butch was united in marriage to Janice Fenster Zehr on July 8, 1984. Butch worked for United Sign and then worked 11 years at Tri-City Sign before retiring in 2004. Butch was an avid sportsman and participated in softball, hunting, fishing, bowling and golf. He loved spending time at his cabin at the lake with family, friends and his dog, Molly. In his early years, he was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He was a member of Platt Duetsche. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karlene Lambrecht and mother-in-law, Thelma Fenster. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jan Opp of Aurora; two daughters, Lori Opp of McCool Junction and Stacie (Wesley) Bass of Brush, Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Brittney Neeman and Kyle Neeman and his fiancé Leslie Hoffman, Justin Bass and Courtney Bass; 2 step-sons, Todd (Cathy) Zehr of Lincoln and Doug (Donita) Zehr of Lee Summit, Missouri; 3 step-grandchildren, Chris Zehr, Traci Zehr and Megan (Eugene) Lawson; 2 step great-grandchildren, Eli and Jaydlie. He is also survied by a sister, Judy Cole of Alexandria, Virginia; sister-in-law Bev (Keith) Collingham; brother-in-law, Larry Fenster all of Aurora and many nieces, nephews and special friends. |
