Douglas Ortegren

Douglas Ortegren, age 95, died Saturday morning, July 20, 2002, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday at the Aurora Cemetery. Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M. Tuesday before the services at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DOUGLAS ORTEGREN

Douglas Ephriam Ortegren, the son of Adolph F. and Christine (Berggren) Ortegren, was born on a farm in Hamilton County, Nebraska on September 24, 1906 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 20, 2002, at the age of 95.

He grew up and attended grade school in Hamilton County. Douglas was employed in Aurora for several years after his schooling.

Douglas married F. Elga Barton on June 6, 1932. He served in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge from the service, Douglas started an Insurance Agency in Hastings. He continued in that business until his retirement in 1962. Douglas and his wife moved to Powell, Wyoming. His wife passed away on November 11, 1975. In the later years he returned to Aurora and spent the last several years at Hamilton Manor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his daughter, Jacqueline, and four brothers, Reuben, Thure, Henry and Pete Ortegren; and four sisters, Segrid Moore, Hilma Luthy, Irma Timmons and Norma Ortegren.

Douglas is survived by three grandchildren, Troy Jennings, Tracy Poore and David Jennings; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
