Esther Oswald

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 13, 1995 at Pleasant View Bible Church. Interment was held at the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Esther Oswald

Esther Mary Oswald, the daughter of Emanuel and Nevada (Toof) Smith, was born at Giltner, Nebraska, on February 11, 1910, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 10, 1995, at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 29 days.

She grew up and attended school in the Giltner area. Her entire life was spent in the Hamilton County, where she helped on the farm and helped area families.

On August 15, 1933, she was united in marriage to Harold F. Oswald. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1955. Following his death she worked as a cook and waitress at Inez Restaurant in Aurora, cooked at the Aurora Public Shools, Lake Mary Ranch Camp for 2 years, and was employed at the Aurora Country Club for many years.

As a child she attended the Prairie Gem Church, and later became a member of the Aurora Pleasantview Bible Church, where she was an active member until her health failed. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Church, and belonged to the North Community Extension Club.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Richard; 2 sisters, Mabel Andrews and Alice Oswald; 7 brothers, Henry, Ralph, William, Wesley, Frank, Edwin, and Claude Smith; 2 grandchildren, Peggy Neal and Jeanette Oswald, and a great grandson Stephen Hackney.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Walter of Aurora, and Joseph of Lincoln; one daughter Mary Bierbower of Aurora; one sister Fern James of Aurora; 9 grandchildren, Robert Oswald, Laurel Hackney, Julie Harney, Linda Gustafson, John Bierbower, David Bierbower, Jane Hathaway, Jerald Oswald, and Jay Oswald; 10 great grandchildren, Andrea, Tyler and Christopher Oswald, Phillip and Alan Hackney, Aaron Oswald, Jessica Oswald, Jacob Oswald, Jennifer Harney, and Grace Hathaway, and many other relatives and friends.
