Cora OttoFuneral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 11, 1984 at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Phillips Cemetery. OBITUARY: Cora A. Otto Cora A. Otto, the daughter of Ajalon and Edith Patterson Chaney, was born at Hansen, Nebraska, on March 29, 1893. Her death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 8, 1984, having attainted the age of 91 years, 3 months and 9 days. As a small child she moved with her family to a farm southwest of Giltner, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood and had attained her education in the public schools of that vicinity. On February 14, 1914, she was united in marriage to Harvey Otto by the Rev. J.D.M. Buchner of the First Methodist Church in Aurora. The Otto’s farmed near Phillips, Nebraska until their retirement in 1950, when they moved into Phillips. They were residing in the Phillips at the time of Mr. Otto’s death on September 1, 1967. Some time after his death, she entered the Hamilton Manor, where she has since resided. Also preceding her in death, where her parents, five brothers, Hugh, Walter, Dewey, Ed and Owen Chaney and four sisters, Mabel Mattern, Myrtle Newth, Dora Fraiser and Mary Marsh. Mr. and Mrs. Otto were longtime members of the United Methodist Church in Phillips, where she was active in church affairs, as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Otto was also a charter member of the T.P.M. Extension Club and remained a member the rest of her lifetime. Those who remain to cherish her memory are two sons, Norris and Roger Otto both of Aurora; daughter, Mrs. Jean Baum of Chicago, Illinois; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. One sister, Mrs. Ollie Myers of Central City, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Howard Marsh; 3 sisters-in-law Lucille Chaney, Ethel Chaney and Hazel Otto, and many other relatives and close friends. |
