Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 6, 1996 at the Phillips United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Phillips Cemetery at Phillips, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Richard Otto

Richard L. Otto, Sr., the son of Gordon and Wilma (Arnold) Otto, was born on a farm near Phillips, Nebraska, on May 31, 1935, and died suddenly near Phillips, Nebraska, on August 2, 1996, at the age of 61 years, 2 months, and 1 day.

He grew up and received his education at Phillips, graduating from Phillips High School in 1952. After graduation, he began commercial trucking, and also was a substitute on the rural mail route for several years.

On September 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carleene Rochek. She preceded him in death on March 5, 1973.

In 1976, he began operating Otto’s Service Station at Phillips, while still engaged in trucking, which he continued until his death.

On July 16, 1976, he was married to Darlene (Ehrenberg) Coffey at Phillips. They continued to reside near Phillips.

Dick was a faithful and active member of the Phillips United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, youth leader, and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed children, music and sports.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife Carleene, and a daughter Ralynda.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Darlene of Phillips; 2 sons, Richard L. Jr., “Rick” and his wife Sherry of Grand Island, Jay and his wife Michelle of Phillips; 2 step-daughters, Carolyn Madison and her husband Randy of Lincoln, and Dr. Kristen Johnson and her husband Dave of Omaha; one brother Arnold of Las Vegas, Nevada; his mother Wilma Otto of Phillips, and 6 grandchildren.
