Evelyn PalmerGraveside Services were held 1:30 P.M., Monday, June 22, 1992 at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Evelyn Palmer Evelyn M. Palmer, the daughter of Rollie, Sr., and Eva (Archer) Toof, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 21, 1909, and died at her home in Grand Island, Nebraska, on June 18, 1992, at the age of 82 years, 9 months, and 27 days. She grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School, and attended Kearney State College and Omaha School of Business. She then taught in Hamilton County Rural Schools for 16 years and also worked for Traveler’s Insurance Company in Omaha for a number of years. On May 22, 1943, she was united in marriage to Charles Palmer at Fremont. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1960. After their marriage they resided in Ainsworth, Nebraska, and Brighton, Colorado, and then owned and operated a motel in Gothenburg, Nebraska, a number of years. In 1963, she moved back to Aurora, and in 1985 she moved to Grand Island to be near her son. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 2 brothers, Maurice and Rollie Toof. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, Robert and his wife Debra of Grand Island, a grand daughter Kathryn Rector and a nephew James Toof, Sr. |
