OBITUARY: Doris Paschke

Eva Doris Paschke, the daughter of John and Zella (Halstead) Price, was born near Thayer, Nebraska, in York County, on September 4, 1905, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 11, 1993, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 7 days.

She grew up around Thayer, Nebraska, and graduated from Virginia, Nebraska, High School, and then attended York College for 2 years. She was employed for a time at the Blackburn Store in York.

On February 17, 1926, she was united in marriage to Elmer Paschke in York County. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1957. They moved to a farm 5 miles south of Polk, where they farmed for 17 years, and then moved to 7 miles northwest of Aurora in March of 1944. She continued living on the farm with her son, after her husband died, until 1964, when she moved into Aurora.

January 1, 1987, she entered the hospital for the first time, and was never able to return to her own home. She spent time a Long Term and Colonial Corner, before moving to the Hamilton Manor August 22, 1988.

In 1991, a highlight for her was being able to attend the Price family reunion at the FFA Camp in July, and visiting with 91 relatives. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Doris was a member of Monroe Church and later transferred her membership to the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. She was active in the Women’s Missionary Society of both churches, and also attended the group bible study in Aurora taught by Viola Peters. She loved to read her bible and read it through many times.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and one great grandchild.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, Dwight Paschke and his wife Lois of Marquette; a daughter Delores Kliewer and her husband George of Aurora; one sister Eleanor Winfield of York; 8 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
