Mary Ann Peard

Mary Ann Peard, age 78, of Aurora, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 9th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Dennis Hunt and Fr. Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Interment will be at the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will from 5 - 7 P.M. on Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rosary at 7 P.M. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: MARY ANN PEARD

Mary Ann Peard, the daughter of George and Ann (O’Connell) Brady, was born at Grand Island, Nebraska on December 3, 1931 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 5, 2010, at the age of 78.

Mary Ann grew up in Grand Island and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She attended nursing school in Colorado. Mary Ann returned to work at the telephone company in Grand Island.

On November 14, 1953, she was married to Robert Peard at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grand Island. She stayed at home and raised their six children. Mary Ann went to work at A.T.I. for 10 years after the children were out of school.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. Mary Ann’s family was her pride and joy. She was very involved in her children and grandchildren’s activities. She loved anything to do with nature, she was a nurturer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Therese.

Those left to cherish her memory are her six children, Mike Peard of Phillips, Cheryl (Al) Wishart of Aurora, Tom (Eileen) of Phillips, Bill (Linda) Waukee, Iowa, Trish (John) Valasek of Palmer and Randy Peard of Aurora; Bob Peard of Phillips; 15 grandchildren, Shayla Peard, Aaron Peard, Tyler Peard, Jeremy Peard, Meg Peard, Mark Wishart, Mitch Wishart, Melissa Wishart, Brady Peard, Tanner Peard, Justin Valasek, Kara Valasek, Whitney Valasek, Josh Valasek and Jessie Valasek and 4 great-grandchildren.
