Della Petersen

Della Petersen, age 91, of Aurora died Tuesday morning, February 29, 2000, at Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Shari Duminy will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 Wednesday at Higby Mortuary.

OBITUARY: DELLA PETERSEN

Della Getrude Petersen, the daughter of Ola Thorvald and Anna Marie (Nelsen) Petersen, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on September 24, 1908 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on February 29, 2000, at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 5 days.

She grew up near Aurora. Della attended District #79 rural school and graduated from Hampton High School in 1926. She helped her parents on the farm for several years. Della worked at the Farmers Union Creamery for 35 years and also cared for her parents in their later years. Della has lived in Aurora since 1954.

Della was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. She was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Church north of Hampton, which is now at the Stuhr Museum in Grand Island. Della was a member of the Better Homes Extension Club in which she held various offices. She also was a member of the local chapter of AARP.

Her parents and one brother, Verden, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, Arnold Petersen and his wife Clarice of Loveland, Colorado; sister in law, Ruth Petersen of Lincoln; two nephews, Dan Petersen of Lincoln and John Petersen of Seabrook, Texas; two nieces, Patricia Bryant of Lincoln and Jane Garrett of Littleton, Colorado; 10 great nieces and nephews; 4 great-great nieces and nephews; many cousins and friends.
