Evelyn Petersen

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 11, 1995 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Interment was held at the St. John’s Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Evelyn Petersen

Evelyn Eleanor Petersen, the daughter of Lars and Mabel (Holcomb) Larsen, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on Octover 15, 1921, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 8, 1995, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 24 days.

She grew up and received her education near Marquette, and graduated from Marquette High School. She taught school at the age of 16, and continued for 4 years. She worked at the Grand Island Ordinance Plant Payroll Department during the Second World War.

Evelyn loved to dance and was eager to help others. She was active in the church during the time God allowed her to be and substitute taught at Marquette Consolidated School. Evelyn knew the true meaning of a “helping hand” and was always there when you needed her.

On March 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Christian Petersen, at the United Methodist Church in Marquette, Nebraska. They resided on a farm 5 miles east of Marquette. In 1966, she entered the Hamilton Manor in Aurora, where she has since resided.

Evelyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Eddie Larsen, and a grandson Ritchie Petersen.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Chris of Marquette; 3 sons, Allan and Doyle both of Firth, and Roger of Marquette; one daughter Marcia Gates of Lincoln; 2 brothers, Dale Larsen of Grand Island, and Orvis Larsen, of Grand Island, who was raised by Evelyn’s parents, and considered a brother; 2 sisters, Maxine Reynolds of North Platte and Gladys Nantkes of York; and 7 grandchildren.
