Kenneth PetersenFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 5, 1997 at the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ. Interment was held in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul, Nebraska. OBITUARY: Kenneth Petersen Kenneth E. Petersen, the son of Elmer and Marie (Suesz) Petersen, was born at St. Paul, Nebraska, on January 25, 1932, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on April 3, 1997, at the age of 65 years, 2 months, and 8 days. He grew up at Wolbach, and attended Wolbach and St. Paul Schools. At age 11, he began working on farms, and later started work with the State of Nebraska Department of Roads. He served his country during the Korean Conflict, in the U.S. Navy, from July 17, 1950, until his discharge on May 19, 1954. Following is discharge he resumed working for the Department of Roads. On June 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to Shirley Jensen, at St. Paul. They continued to reside in St. Paul, until November of 1972, when he and his family moved to Ord, where he was State Supervisor. After 18 months, he was transferred to Aurora, and he continued to work out of Aurora until his retirement on December 27, 1996. Kenneth was a member of the Aurora Presbyterian United Church of Christ, and also belonged to the St. Paul American Legion, Post #119, and the Grand Island Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #378. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Beulah Marie Rowe. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley of Aurora; his son Todd William Petersen of Aurora; his daughter Tonja Sue Petersen of Laurens, Iowa, and 3 nephews. |
