Eleanor Peterson

Eleanor Peterson, age 83, of Fort Collins, Colorado died Tuesday, October 19, 1999, in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday at Aurora Cemetery in Aurora. Pastor Al Duminy will officiate. Interment will be at the Aurora Cemetery.


Eleanor M. Peterson, the daughter of Axel and Mary (Nelson) Carlson, was born in Saronville, Nebraska on August 3, 1916 and died in Fort Collins, Colorado on October 19, 1999, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 6 days.

Eleanor graduated from Sutton High School. She attended Hastings College and attended Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, California where she received a degree in Library Science.

She was united in marriage to Walter F. Peterson on June 9,1940 in Saronville, Nebraska. Eleanor was a librarian with the Gering City Library of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and the Richland School District in Shafter, California. Walter passed away on April 22, 1992. A former resident of Shafter, California Eleanor has resided in Fort Collins since February 1994.

Eleanor enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, spending time with her family, and her womenís church group. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter JT is Wasco, California. She was a member of Our Saviorís Lutheran Church in Fort Collins.

Her parents, husband, two brothers, Harvey and Everett Carlson and one sister, Leola Cundall, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Norman Peterson of Monterey, California; one daughter, Kathleen Robbins of Cheyenne, Wyoming; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
