Velma Peterson

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 19, 1994 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Velma Peterson

Velma Ray Peterson, the daughter of Jesse and Anna (Van Raden) Quig, was born at Hastings, Nebraska, on September 5, 1907, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 16, 1994, at the age of 87 years, and 11 days.

She attended country school and graduated from Hastings High School. She was a 1932 graduate of Hastings College.

On July 23, 1933, she was united in marriage to Irvin Peterson at Hastings. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1992. After their marriage they were very involved in education. They taught school in Trumbull, until they moved to Aurora in 1945, where she was a substitute teacher for a number of years.

Velma was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, belonged to the United Methodist Women, and was a past matron of the Aurora Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and had belonged to the Rainbow Girls.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her brother, Howard Quig of Lincoln, a sister Vera Quig of Hastings; 2 nieces, Kathleen Robbins of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Verlene Rasgorshek of Omaha, and a nephew Norman Peterson of Monterey, California.
