Betty Phillips

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 3, 1998 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Betty Phillips

Betty Lou Phillips, the daughter of Williamd “Wylie” and Ora Ruth (Burwell) Hartzell, was born on a farm south of Aurora on May 2, 1927, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on May 30, 1998, at the age of 71 years and 28 days.

She grew up and attended Champ School south of Aurora, where she lived until the family moved into Stockham where she graduated from High School in 1945.

On April 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Paul Phillips at Aurora. They lived in Aurora, where she was employed at the Hamilton Telephone Company, Douglas Market, Red & White Grocery, and the South Side Grocery. She did baby sitting for many are children.

Betty was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, church activities, and neighbors, and was the Hartzell family historian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Clayton and Jerry Hartzell; 2 sisters Iona Salmon and Jean Luth.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Paul of Aurora; 2 sons, Dick and his wife Pat, Bob and his wife Donna, all of Aurora; 2 daughters, Linda Phillips of Aurora, and Rhonda Ulmer and her husband Gene of Grand Island; one brother Robert Hartzell of Paige, Arizona; 7 grandchildren, JoAnna Phillips, Kim Friesen, Rick Clark, Daniel Phillips, Jody Phillips, Julie Phillips, and Justin Phillips; 3 great grandchildren, Siarra Friesen, Brittanie Friesen, and Alexandria Victoria Clark.
