Paul Phillips
Paul Phillips, age 82, of Aurora, died Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 9th at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary, with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Memorials may be made to the family. OBITUARY: PAUL PHILLIPS Paul Harold Phillips, the son of Caleb P. and Laura Ellen (Worcester) Phillips, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on October 16, 1923 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 5, 2005, at the age of 82. He grew up in Aurora and attended Country School Dist. 43. Paul graduated from Aurora High School in 1943. On April 9, 1947, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Hartzell at Aurora. Paul worked for the Farmers Union Creamery in Aurora until they closed in 1968. He then went to work for Redman Homes in Grand Island in 1970 and in 1971, began working at Bonnavilla Homes in Aurora as a carpenter, until he retired in 1985. Betty passed away on May 30, 1998. Paul was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. He was active in delivering Meals-on-Wheels, loved to garden and was proud of Good Neighbor Award he was presented from the Ak-Sar-Ben Board. Paul loved his neighbors and lived in his neighborhood for over 54 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a great-granddaughter in infancy; four sisters and two brothers and another brother in infancy. Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Dick (Pat) Phillips and Bob (Donna) Phillips all of Aurora; two daughters, Linda Phillips of Aurora and Rhonda (Gene) Ulmer of Grand Island; 7 grandchildren, JoAnna Cordova, Kim Friesen, Rick Clark, Daniel Phillips, Jody Phillips, Julie Phillips and Justin Phillips; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Phillips of Geneva and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. |
