Dr. Arthur R. 'Doc' Plith
Dr. Arthur R. “Doc” Plith died Wednesday, January 25th, at the VA Medical Center in Omaha following a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 31, at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora, Nebraska. Condolences may be emailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: DR. ARTHUR R. 'DOC' PLITH Dr. Plith, the son of Arthur Roy and Grace (Harris) Plith was born in Horace, Nebraska July 21, 1914. He grew up in Randolph, Nebraska and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln. Dr. Plith attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from the UNL Dental College in 1938. Following graduation, he began his dental practice in Grand Island. He served during World War II with the 96th Infantry (“Deadeye”) Division in the Philippines and participated in the invasion of Okinawa. Dr. Plith returned to his practice in Grand Island following the war and retired in 1980. Doc was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Eagles, the Platt Deutsche, the American Legion, the VFW and the 96th Infantry Reunion Association. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Plith of Lincoln. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Bill and Tom (Rose) Plith, Omaha, granddaughters Karla (Keith) Jones, Denver, Amy (James) Martinez, Sarah (Ding) Plith-Seldera, and great-grandsons Bayani, Matibay and David, all of Omaha. |
