Arthur PohlFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 9, 1995 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery. OBITUARY: Arthur Gilbert Pohl Arthur Pohl, the son of Ludwig and Marie (Stettner) Pohl, was born at Hampton, Nebraska on June 12, 1914, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska on November 6, 1995, at the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 24 days. Art grew up near Hampton, attended St. Peter Parochial Schools, and graduated from Hampton High School. He farmed with his dad for several years before serving in the US Army from 1941 to 1945. On May 5, 1944, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Hansen at Hampton, where they made their home. Art worked as a mechanic for Ericksen Motor for several years, and then operated his own mechanic shop for several years. He became Postmaster at Hampton, and served that position for 18 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of American Legion Post #141, the Nebraska Retired League of Postmasters, St. Peter Lutheran Church, and the American Association of Retired Persons. He had been a Town Board Member, and had held several offices in the church. He was preceded in death by his parents and on brother, Arnold Pohl. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Evelyn, 2 sons, Douglas Pohl and his wife Judy of Omaha, and Calvin Pohl of Omaha, 2 grandchildren, Christine and Michael Pohl, his sister Irene Germeroth of Hillsboro, Oregon, and other relatives and friends. |
