Wallace Pohl

Wallace Pohl, age 82, of Hampton, Nebraska passed away on August 17, 2010 at the York General Hospital in York, Nebraska.

Because he has generously donated his body to science, a memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 21st at Zion Lutheran Church northeast of Hampton. Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate. Memorials may be made in care of the family for future designation. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: WALLACE POHL

Wallace Wayne Pohl was born on January 31, 1928 to Gustav and Reneta (Lenz) Pohl at Hampton. He attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Hampton High School in 1945.

On October 28, 1951 he was united in marriage to Helen Reardon at Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton. To this union 2 children were born. He farmed all his life Southeast of Hampton. He pioneered in picker-shelling of corn and also in minimum till.

Wallace liked spending time in his shop working on innovations to improve the farm and home. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Nebraska Football and Volleyball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three nephews Mike and Steve Brannan, Jon Hanway; two nieces, Jeanne Hanway and Alison Doisy Vines, and a brother-in- law, James Brannan.

Survivors include his wife Helen; a daughter Kathryn (Gary) Johnson of Aurora; a son James Pohl of Grand Island; two grandchildren Braden Johnson of Lincoln and Christa Johnson of Denver; two sisters Shirley (Philip) Doisy of St. Louis and Lois Brannan of Exeter, California; a sister-in- law Dorothy Hanway of Aurora, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
