Clifford Potter

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M.., Wednesday, January 20, 1993 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Clifford Potter

Clifford Raymond Potter, Jr., the son of Clifford and Zola (Selvedge) Potter, Sr., was born at Iola, Kansas, on December 2, 1927, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 17, 1993, following a year’s bout with cancer, at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 15 days.

He grew up and attended school at Iola, and at age 17 he entered the United States Navy, and served for one year.

In January of 1946, he married Elsie Whan. He traveled doing grain elevator construction, and moved to Washington State. On September 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Penny Krantz, at Hoquium, Washington, and he continued doing elevator construction. In 1969, he moved to Aurora, and worked for Ken Wortman, Bill Black, ABC Construction, and then for Hamilton County at the gravel works. On December 24, 1987, he married Shirley (Baker) Nelson, at Aurora. In 1992, Cliff retired.

He was a member of the Aurora V.F.W. Club and belonged to the Eagles Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Joe and Jerry Lee Potter.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley, of Marquette; 4 step-sons, Steve Nelson of Neola, Iowa, Jeff Nelson of Underwood, Iowa, David Nelson of Minden, Iowa, and Michael Nelson of Ames, Iowa. 5 daughters, Patty Drake of Blue Springs, Missouri, Ginny Nelson of Louisville, Kansas, Debby Lampe of Iola, Kansas, Michelle Sabata of Aurora, and Cheryl Flodman of Elwood. One brother, Richard Potter of Iola, Kansas; 5 sisters, Millie Prock, Wanda Scheer, Janice Moore, Darlene Yocham, all of Iola, Kansas, and Carol Fowler of La Mirada, California; 7 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
