Charle Purdy

Charles Purdy, age 39, of Aurora, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at his home following a battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Phillips. Rev. Nora Leeds will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: CHARLES PURDY

Charles Wayne Purdy, the son of Darrell and Phyllis (Kruse) Purdy, was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on August 24, 1961 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 27, 2001, at the age of 39 years.

Charles was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Phillips. He grew up in Phillips, Nebraska and attended grade school there. Charles attended junior high in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. His work experience started on the farm with his father and grandfather. After leaving the family farm, he worked for PMI, constructing the IAMS Plant. During his career he worked in Dallas, Texas for Do All Machine Tools; in Little Rock, Arkansas for Memco Safety Products; Tulsa, Oklahoma for Memco as Branch Manager and in Omaha, Nebraska for SDS Manufacturers Agent.

He was involved in Boy Scouts, 4-H, FFA, Grand Lodge of Texas, A.F. & A.M. and the Mother Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Dallas, Texas. Charles was a member of Grape Vine Evangelical Church in McKinney, Texas.

Charles was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lloyd (Bud) Kruse and Alvin Purdy.

Charles is survived by his parents, Darrell and Phyllis Purdy of Aurora; grandmothers, Dorothy Purdy of Phillips and Mary Larson and her husband Ray of Boelus, Nebraska; sisters, Peg Vetter and her husband Clark of Franklin, Nebraska, Brenda Kliewer and her husband Kenneth of Kinsley, Kansas; foster adoptive brothers, Patrick of Aurora and Eugene and his wife Vicki of LaCross, Kansas; foster adoptive sister, Stephanie of Beaver, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Kathrine and Adam Vetter of Franklin, Corey Kliewer of Story City, Iowa and Christina and Kelsey Kliewer of Kinsley, Kansas.
