Donald QuickFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 18, 1984 at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville. Interment was held in the Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery. OBITUARY: Donald W. Quick Donald W. Quick was born June 18, 1913 in York County, Nebraska to Edward and Mabel Dahlgren Quick and died January 16, 1984 at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska following a short illness. His early childhood was spent in the Bradshaw area. At the age of 12 the family moved to a farm near Hordville. He received his education in the York County and Hordville schools. Don enjoyed 25 years of pitching baseball for Legion and semi-pro teams. He is remembered in Hamilton County and surrounding areas as the pitcher for the Aurora Legion baseball state championship team who defeated the Walter Candy Kids from Omaha. On June 18, 1936 he was married to Dorothy Knutson in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Sidney, Montana until 1947 when they returned to Nebraska to take over his parents’ farm near Hordville. In 1975 they retired to Aurora where they lived until his death. Don was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville. His parents preceded him in death. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy; one son Richard of Lincoln; daughter Janet Messman of Aurora; three brothers, Floyd of Circle, Montana, Clifford of Hordville and Max of Stromsburg; three sisters, Myrtle Sidwell of Kearney, Valdeo Olson of Clearwater, Florida and Betty Hodgen of Omaha; two grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many friends. |
