Elvera RahrsElvera Rahrs, age 83, of Aurora, died Thursday morning, February 22, 2001 at Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. Rev. Al Duminy will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M., Friday at Higby Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church. OBITUARY: ELVERA RAHRS Elvera Marie (Larsen) Rahrs, the daughter of James (Jens) P. and Rose (Lorenzen) Larsen, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on September 26, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on February 22, 2001, at the age of 83 years. She attended a rural country school outside of Marquette. Elvera was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Elvera was united in marriage to Alvin F. Rahrs on September 1, 1940 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church at Kronborg. The newly wed couple lived in Washington State for a year before returning to Nebraska, making their home in Seward, Nebraska until 1952. They moved to Marquette that spring where they farmed together until retirement. In 1981, the couple moved to Aurora. Elvera was a member of the Garden Club, and also participated in church activities at Messiah Lutheran Church, including the women’s circle. She enjoyed gardening, music and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Peter, Hans, Holger, Edward and Jim Larsen. She is survived by her husband, Alvin Rahrs of Aurora; three sons, Alvin Bruce Rahrs and family of Hastings, Richard L. Rahrs of Columbus and Jon J. Rahrs and family of Marquette. |
