Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 21, 1996 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hampton, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Alma Rahrs

Alma Marie Rahrs, the daughter of Henry and Ottillie (Mueller) Rahrs, was born at Thayer, Nebraska, on November 21, 1900, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on October 17, 1996, at the age of 95 years, 10 months, and 26 days.

She attended Parochial School and later attended the Grand Island Business College and worked in Omaha, from December 1933 until August 1937. She worked for the Amalgamated Lithographers of America in San Francisco, California from August 13, 1937 until September 18, 1940, when she accepted a position in Washington D.C., with the United States Department of Agriculture, REA, from September 32, 1940, until May 15, 1961, when she retired on disability.

In August of 1961, she moved to Central City and in 1968, she moved to Grand Island. For the past several years, she has resided at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Alma was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church northeast of Hampton, and at the time of her death was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, her twin brother Elmer, and Clarence, 3 sisters, Lena Reetz, Marcella Drewier, and Lydia Maronde.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her brother Alvin, and a sister Rose Gardner, both of Aurora, and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
