Donald RasmussenFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 4, 1990 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Interment was held in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. OBITUARY: Donald Rasmussen Donald Caver Rasmussen, the son of Edward and Erna (Pedersen) Rasmussen, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 26, 1927, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on February 28, 1990, at the age of 62 years, 7 months, and 2 days. He grew up at Kronborg and graduated from Marquette High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. On June 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Lindgren at Central City. He farmed for 5 years near Kronborg, and then worked for Lockwood Graders in Gering and Bath, New York. Later he worked for Montgomery Ward in Sidney, Pueblo, Colorado and Grand Island. He owned and operated service stations in Grand Island and Aurora. On March 24, 1979, he married Shirley Hinrichs (Hernandez) at Giltner, and they resided in Giltner, and Don worked for Andy’s Rendering, and had been self employed for the last 5 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg, and also belonged to the Grand Island Eagles Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. Don is survived by his wife Shirley of Giltner; 4 daughters, Carmen Meininger and Donnise Middagh, both of Grand Island, Diane Slemons of Plymouth, Minnesota and Sharon Versaw of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 2 step-daughters, Michele Hawthorne of Giltner and Connie Gustafson of Marquette; 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grand daughters and many other relatives and friends. |
