Wayne Rath
Wayne Rath, age 80, of Aurora, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Memorial Community Care after a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 12th at the Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman and Pastor Vance Christie will officiate. Burial Service will be at 9:45 A.M. at the Stockham Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: WAYNE RATH Wayne Allen Rath, the son of William and Eva Blanche (Ayer) Rath, was born in Clay County, Nebraska on August 30, 1926 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 9, 2007, at the age of 80. Wayne attended Eldorado country school and then went onto Harvard to finish his schooling. Wayne lived in Clay and Hamilton Counties all of his life, except for the two years he spent working for Lockheed Air Company in California and the Lincoln Telephone Company, before returning to farm. Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Ann Buller on August 26, 1949 at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Wayne was involved in farming for 35 years. Wayne and Mary Ann purchased Daylight Donut Shop and worked there for 12 years. Wayne was an elder in the Stockham Bible Church for many years and served as the Youth Leader for an extended period of time. He was also a member of the local Gideon Society. Wayne was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Free Church at the time of his death. Wayne loved people and was interested in them, especially his own family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dale, two brothers and two sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Ann Rath of Aurora; two children, Jack (Gail) Rath of Giltner and Joann (Roger) Hattan of Phillips; 6 grandchildren, Sage Rath, Cody (Lacey) Rath, Lindsay Hattan, Jacque (Trevor) Carden, Cheyann Rath and Logan Rath; a great-grandson, Caiden Rath; sisters-in-law, Darlene Rath of Aurora and Margaret Rath of Tennessee and brother-in-law, Robert Noble of Pittsburgh, KS and other family and friends. |
