OBITUARY: MARJORIE READY

Marjorie Pauline Ready, the daughter of Reuel and Ethel L. (Lindgren) Burrows, was born in Loma Linda, California on July 1, 1923 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on September 28, 2004, at the age of 81.

Marjorie was born in California and moved to Nebraska with her family in 1930. She grew up in the Giltner area, graduated from Giltner High School in 1941, and taught school for a short time following 'normal training'.

Marjorie was united in marriage to James Eugene Ready on July 25, 1944 at Grand Island. They lived in California from 1944-45 while Jim served in the United States Navy. In December of 1945, they returned to Grand Island where Marj worked at Overland National Bank. In 1950, they moved to the family farm near Giltner, where she enjoyed helping her husband with harvest and stayed busy raising their children.

Marjorie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Giltner, where she was involved in United Methodist Women, was a Sunday School teacher and youth group sponsor for many years. She was also involved in several extension clubs and the Nibble Nots neighborhood club. Marj loved to bowl and participated in the state and national tournaments, where she received a 25-year plaque for bowling in 25 national tournaments. She was president of the Early Risers bowling league. As a devoted wife and mother, Marj was a stickler for piano lessons and practice. She loved to play cards and games with her grandkids. Marj and Jim made many trips to gather genealogy information on the Burrows and Ready families. They also organized and hosted annual Burrows' family reunions.

Marj was preceded in death by her parents.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband James Ready of Giltner; three daughters, Carol (Cletus) Kothe of Giltner, Susan (Ernest) Heyen of Giltner and Myra (Joe) Ricceri of Omaha and 6 grandchildren, Lisa Kothe and her fiancée Bradley Bell of Hastings, Eric and Leaha Kothe of Phillips, Kevin Heyen of Jefferson City, Missouri, Alex Heyen of Lincoln, Laura Ricceri attending Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and Adam Ricceri attending Rockhurst University in Kansas City. She is also survived by three sisters, Wylda Sauer of Aurora, Colorado, Velma (Hank) Hackman of Lincoln and Shirley (Don) Suck of Grand Island, a brother, Wally (Marge) Burrows of Giltner, and many nieces and nephews.
